NEW: APRIL 2010 - Changes in Regulations for Short-Sales will help those individuals trying to sell their home with no hope in paying off the existing mortgage. Beginning April 5th help arrives by assisting mortgage companies in the cost of processing, financial incentives to accept lower payoff amounts, and additionally by assisting the current homeowner with moving expenses. One other key change restricts the mortgage company from pursuing the seller for the deficiency not paid.
Short-Sales have been around for years, but not until the recent down-turn in the housing market have they been utilized to the extent they are now. In the past the two major problems have been the length of time it takes for approval by the mortgage company and no real incentive for the seller. New Changes should help with these and other problems.
